I can help you improve your work and put your message across in the best way by converting difficult, technical documents into plain, clear and accurate language that your audience can understand and appreciate.

Unlike some of the language services out there which will simply run your text through a spellchecker and grammar checker program, I undertake to look at every word personally to:

* check correctness
* ensure that sentences and paragraphs flow
* make the text clearer and more understandable
* clarify and improve text.

If you send me your text, whether it is an academic dissertation, marketing material, blog post, letter, report, web page, manuscript, or whatever document you need, I will look at every word and work on your spelling, punctuation, grammar, word order and sentence structure. I can also advise on the structure of your work, repeated words, issues with timelines and continuity.

I will make sure that your text doesn’t contain spelling, grammar, punctuation or factual errors.  When copyediting a piece, I work in several different ways (according the client's preference):

* MS Word document: If you supply an MS Word document I will use “track changes” which entails that you are able to see my

  recommended changes, whether it is deleting something, moving it, or adding a word here and there.  I also use the “comments”

  facility (which will appear on the right-hand side of the text) to highlight a word or phrase and then ask a question or offer some

  alternatives.   When you receive the document from me, you can choose “show final markup” in “track changes” (or similar,

  depending on what word processor you are using) and then go through accepting or rejecting my changes with the click of a

  button.  I always work like this with students, so they have to decide whether to accept each change, retaining ownership and

  authorship over the piece of work.

*  Annotated PDF: If you supply a printed version (also referred to as a “hard copy”) or PDF, I will use proofreaders’ marks

   (a collection of symbols and shorthand) to indicate suggested corrections.  I print a copy of each page to PDF or open the PDF

   document, and use a dedicated application that allows me to highlight parts of the text and add call-out boxes with comments in.

   In some cases, if so preferred by the client, I can also print out the PDF document and do recommendations regarding changes

   and amendments using handwritten comments and proofreading marks. I scan the edited version of the document to PDF before

   returning it to the client.
